OK Mozart presents Trio Antiqua in Ambler Hall Concert Series

Historical performance group slated February 21

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Historical performance group Trio Antiqua pays homage to some of the greatest 18th century composers at 2 p.m. Feb. 21 during OK Mozart’s Ambler Hall Concert Series in downtown Bartlesville, Okla.

Tickets are $17.50 and are available by calling 918-336-9800 or visiting okmozart.com.

The unique trio, who is really looking forward to their concert in Bartlesville, plays music on period instruments —Theodora Morris on baroque violin, Ralph Morris on baroque violin and viola, and Thresa Swadley on baroque cello.

Ralph Morris said the interpretation will be from an historical perspective. “As a part of the performance we will be talking about the instruments and about the pieces on the program,” he said.

On tap for the afternoon are works by Joseph Haydn, Joseph Gehot, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven.

Theodora and husband Ralph Morris teach at the University of Central Oklahoma and Swadley teaches at Oklahoma Baptist University. The three have known each other for years as freelance musicians in the Oklahoma City area, but just started playing together as a chamber music group in 2014.

Theodora Morris, who was born in Vienna, Austria, and Ralph Morris, who hails from Texas, both studied early performance in Vienna and were active in an early music group playing period instruments till they returned to the states in 1984. When the Brisch Center for Historical Performance at UCO was established, the Morrises got back into early music. In 2014, Swadley also ignited a passion for early music performance, and Trio Antiqua was formed.

Ambler Hall is located at 415 S. Dewey in Bartlesville and is OK Mozart’s new acoustic venue. Please be seated 15 minutes before the concert.
