Special Commemorative Service and Reception Will Mark the Occasion
Bartlesville First Baptist Church will celebrate its 125th year with two special Anniversary Celebration services on Sunday, November 13. One morning worship service will be led at 10:30 a.m. by Senior Pastor, James Biesiadecki. Guest speaker Dr. Anthony Jordan, Executive Director of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, will bring the anniversary message.
At that service four individuals will be recognized and presented with certificates. These include Henry Powell and Betty Holt, who have been members of the church the longest. Powell has been a member for 70 years and Holt for 69 years. Also being honored are the two oldest members of First Baptist Church: Jack Presnell, 97, and Katherine Sullivan, 96.
Local dignitaries have been invited to participate in a second Anniversary Celebration service, which is set for 5 p.m. the same day. At that service, Scott Phillips, Operations Team Leader for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, who previously served BFBC as Interim Pastor, will speak.
Special music programs have been planned for both services by Wade Daniel, Music Minister. The morning service will feature a traditional blend of choir and orchestral music. Then, in keeping with the church’s 125th anniversary year, the afternoon service will feature an old-fashioned Hymn Sing in two parts. The first half will feature a series of traditional piano and organ favorites; the second half of the program will be presented in an acoustical gospel way with mandolin and banjo.
A commemorative souvenir booklet documenting the history of the church will be distributed at each service. A reception will follow the afternoon service in the Fellowship Hall where light refreshments and a celebratory anniversary cake will be served. Both services are open to the public.
