The Price Tower Arts Center announces the winner of the first Wright Chef competition, Chef Jimmy Sanabria-Cardec, of Dallas, Texas. Having received applications from across the nation, six finalists were chosen to compete last weekend before a panel of 12 judges to secure the title of Wright Chef for the inaugural year of the Culinary Artist in Residence at Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Price Tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
The Wright Chef is part of an emerging artist and residency program at the Price Tower Arts Center. Competition winner, Jimmy Sanabria-Cardec, currently the Chef de Partie at the Four Seasons in Dallas, will be able to explore his culinary artistry while living in one the suites at one of the most unique historic hotels in America, the Inn at Price Tower. He has won the once in a lifetime opportunity to live and breathe art during his one year stay as resident Executive Chef of the Copper Restaurant + Bar located on the 15th and 16th floors of the Price Tower. He will have full creative control of the menu and presentations of his culinary masterpieces, theme, concept, and training of the staff. In addition, as an emerging culinary artist, he will benefit from the mentorship of Chef Kurtess Mortensen (pictured left with Chef Jimmy) of the Pioneer Woman’s Mercantile. Chef Kurtess played an integral role in creating this program and competition. He will continue to volunteer his time as mentor to nurture the Wright Chef’s culinary strengths and business acumen.
As a National Historic Landmark recognized among the world’s most elite architectural masterpieces, the Price Tower boasts hundreds of visitors annually from around the world.
