The theme of this year’s Choral Society season is “Good Things Come in Threes,” as we share with you three concerts, each dealing with three related subjects. The concept of good things that come in threes permeates our culture and our world. Among these are the Latin principle, “the rule of three”, the American Constitution promising three inalienable rights, the holy Trinity and three being such a prominent feature in many children’s stories. This year, come and enjoy the Choral Society trio as we explore music in threes.
In our opening concert, we will musically explore the subjects of living, praying and rejoicing! Madrigalesque works about living life by Ralph Vaughan Williams and F.J. Haydn begin this adventure. Then we move to prayerful, yet sometimes whimsical works by Ivor Davies and Franz Schubert. Crowning this three – part concert is Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britten followed by a few beautiful King’s Signers arrangements. Come for a great afternoon as we live, pray and rejoice together!
