A Midsummer Night’s Dream

May 12 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

| Admission by Donation

Some of Shakespeare’s most engaging characters appear in the beloved comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which opens at the Unity Square Green outdoor stage, located between the Price Tower and the Bartlesville Community Center in downtown Bartlesville, on Thursday, May 12th, and runs Friday, May 13th and Saturday, May 14th. All performances are at 8pm.

Shelby Brammer directs this co-production of Theater Bartlesville and Alan Gentges, featuring a large cast of the best of Bartlesville’s theater talent.

On a midsummer’s night in an enchanted forest, the King and Queen of the Fairies, with the aid of the wood sprite, Puck, unleash and fall under mischievous and magical spells, bringing on improbable love affairs and comical chaos in the woods. Those swept up in this world out of joint, are four young Athenian lovers on the run, and a band of tradesmen rehearsing their play to be performed at the wedding of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, and his bride, Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons.

In this timeless comedy, William Shakespeare makes clear that, throughout the ages, love has the most potent magic of all — irresistible, bewitching, and revealing of us in ways that are sweet, sometimes sad, and often hilarious. Prepare for a magical and funny evening under the stars on the Unity Square lawn.

Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and refreshments. Drinks available at Price Tower Bar. Admission by Donation.
