Grab your cowboy hat, put on those boots, and come two step to OKM’s Country Night at Woolaroc (1925 Woolaroc Ranch Rd, Bartlesville, OK 74003) on Friday, June 10 at 5:00 p.m. Performances by Madi McGuire, Hot Club of Cowtown, and Josh Turner.
Madi McGuire is OKM’s youth spotlight at this year’s Woolaroc concert. She is an up and coming Oklahoman country singer who began writing songs at only 9 years old. Now aged 15, McGuire has already had her first single, “What Girls Are For” released in September 2021 and has two upcoming releases this year.
The Hot Club Cowtown began in the late 1990s and has always woven a combination of seemingly disparate styles together to its own magical effect, “at the crossroads where country meets jazz and chases the blues away,” stated The Independent. The group has toured extensively worldwide on its own and with artists such as Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, The Mavericks, and more. The Hot Club has performed at countless festivals including the Women in Jazz series (Lincoln Center,) the Cambridge Fold Festival (UK,) the Fuji Rock Festival (Japan,) Bay Blues & Roots Festival (AU,) and they were the grand opening of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum (Nashville.) They have also travelled as US State Department Musical Ambassadors to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Algeria, the Republic of Georgia, and the Sultanate of Oman and were inducted into the Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame.
OKM Music is proud to have the multi-platinum-selling star and MCA Nashville recording artist, Josh Turner as the finale for the night. He has described himself as a country music fan first and foremost and has even concocted his own version of Mount Rushmore conceived solely of country music legends. Turner’s “Mount Rushmore of Country Music” boasts five faces rather than four (it’s his mountain, after all) — Randy Travis, John Anderson, Johnny Cash, Vern Gosdin, and Hank Williams. The giants carved into the granite of Turner’s musical soul form the core of his aptly titled new album, Country State of Mind. “I’ve always said that any song you hear coming from my voice, you’re going to hear bits and pieces of those five guys,” he says. “They taught me how to be Josh Turner.” Turner has been nominated for multiple GRAMMY, CMA, and ACM nominations, and has joined the Grand Ole Opry. For nearly two decades, Turner has been one of country music’s most recognizable voices, selling more than 8.5 million units and amassing more than 2.5 billion global streams. He has never kept his reverence for traditional country music a secret, but, with this latest album, Josh Turner is definitely in a Country State of Mind.
Enjoy meals and sweets from locally-owned food trucks. Kids will have a blast with the country-themed games. Watch a breathtaking fireworks display that compliments the stars of the night to conclude the evening. OKM looks forward to seeing you there!
